MicroPower Presented Innovation Award By Greater San Marcos Partnership
(February 11th 2016) – San Marcos, Texas – MicroPower Global was today announced as the winner of the Dick Burdick Award at the Greater San Marcos Partnership’s Innovation Summit. The award is given annually “to one innovative company from the region that is impacting the way business is done” and was collected this year by MicroPower’s VP of Engineering & Applications, Ed Sadjadi.
The Greater San Marcos Partnership is a public-private partnership that serves as the regional economic development organization, with a mission to promote smart and sustainable economic growth by promoting the Greater San Marcos value proposition, supporting quality job growth in export-oriented target sectors, optimizing the local talent base, accommodating and managing natural resources & quality growth, and creating destination appeal.
The Innovation Summit is an annual event that showcases the work of Texas State University to innovate the Greater San Marcos region’s economy. As well as developing an innovative new technology, MicroPower’s initial manufacturing base is housed within the University’s STAR (Science, Technology & Advanced Research) Park, an incubator facility a few miles off-campus.
In addition, MicroPower has also provided internships for Texas State graduates and undergraduates, and a number of current employees first got involved at the company via this route. Following the award ceremony, MicroPower also provided a tour of its facilities to the Innovation Summit’s attendees.
“This award is recognition of the strong ties we have built with Texas State University and the local community,” said MicroPower’s Chairman, Max Lewinsohn. “San Marcos is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and, following successful testing of our thermoelectric devices with a number of customers, we hope soon to become one of the fastest growing companies.”
