MicroPower Wins the Dick Burdick Innovation Award

February 2016 Press Release

MicroPower Global has been named winner of the Dick Burdick Award at the Greater San Marcos Partnership's Innovation Summit.

The award is given each year "to one innovative company from the region that is impacting the way business is done." It was collected for MicroPower by Ed Sadjadi, the company's VP of Engineering and Applications.

The Greater San Marcos Partnership is a public-private economic-development organisation focused on smart, sustainable growth in the region. Its Innovation Summit is an annual event showcasing work that helps innovate the Greater San Marcos economy. MicroPower's initial manufacturing base sits within Texas State University's STAR (Science, Technology and Advanced Research) Park, an incubator facility a few miles off campus, and the company has provided internships to Texas State graduates and undergraduates, a route through which several current employees first joined.

"This award is recognition of the strong ties we have built with Texas State University and the local community," said Max Lewinsohn, MicroPower's Chairman. "San Marcos is one of the fastest-growing cities in the US and, following successful testing of our thermoelectric devices with a number of customers, we hope soon to become one of its fastest-growing companies."

About MicroPower: MicroPower Global develops advanced thermoelectric generators and cooling systems that convert industrial waste heat into clean electricity. With an international patent portfolio and third-party testing and validation across NREL, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, NIST, Bechtel-Bettis, and Texas State, MicroPower's technology operates at 3–5× the efficiency of any commercial alternative.
